Spots, Stripes and Scales
Please see below an overview of what we will be learning this half term.
This half term we will be learning phase 5 phonics. We will be practising reading real words and pseudo words (fake/alien words) spotting digraphs, trigraphs and alternative sounds in words. There are games that relate to this on https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/. Please practise this at home.
Our school has chosen Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised as our new systematic synthetic phonics (SSP) programme to teach early reading and spelling.

This half term we will use our prior knowledge of counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s to multiply and divide. We will also learn about fractions and discuss position and direction.
Please practise counting in 2's 5's and 10's with your child at home. Please remember to practise counting forwards AND backwards. Please practise counting from 0-100 forwards AND backwards.
Please practise number formation and writing numerals as words from zero to twenty.

This half term in geography we are learning about the weather.
Animals including humans
Every Friday spellings will be set as part of the homework (on google classroom) please learn the spellings for the group that you are in. You should have received a note to say what spelling group you ar in (A,B or C).
These are the 'First 100 High Frequency Words' and the 'Year 1 common exception words' that we need to know by the end of the year.
